A hot topic on the international scene is stopping food waste around the world. And a northwest Ohio company is jumping to the fore-front of this dilemma. Nature Fresh Farms, that operates a huge greenhouse operation for tomatoes in Delta, has donated over 150,000 pounds of produce to the Forgotten Harvest program.
It’s estimated around the world, nearly 1.3 billion tons of food is thrown away each year. Nature Fresh has been able to harvest tons of fresh food that cannot be sold at the retail level, but is still nutritious and fully edible.
