DEFIANCE SCHOOL BOARD APPROVES ADMIN. PAY RAISES, TALKS SUMMER DEAD-PERIOD

At this week’s meeting of the Defiance City School Board of Education, salary adjustments were approved for administrators and confidential staff. Each of those groups was approved for a 3% wage increase, but it excludes the superintendent and treasurer of the district. Non-bargaining personnel of Defiance City Schools were also awarded a stipend of 3% of their salaries for extra efforts during the pandemic.

Defiance City Schools have hired three new intervention specialists for the district, and approved 2017 DHS grad Rachel Gerken as a new 5th grade teacher.

The Defiance Band Boosters donated $11,000 in funds for a new 28-foot trailer to haul equipment. And there was discussion about implementing a summer dead period for athletes, to take a break from activities; but no action was taken.

And opening day for Defiance City School students next month is August 18th.
