The latest technology could go a long way in alerting the Henry County public to disasters and other emergencies. EMA director Tracy Busch reported to the Henry County Commissioners on a wireless emergency notification system his office is working-on, through the sheriff’s office. This wireless emergency notification system could be operational in Henry County in the next week or two.
Commissioners were also informed about a grant award of nearly $131,000 that will provide trailers for volunteer groups that respond to disasters. These trailers would be sent to Defiance, Williams, and Paulding Counties, since Henry County already has one in place. Those trailers are being put together by Walter’s Trailer company in Napoleon; and they’ll be outfitted with tools, chain saws, goggles, vests, and first-aid gear. Another part of the grant would provide a mobile 65 killowatt generator for Henry County that would be stationed in Deshler.
