The city of Napoleon is waiting on more information from Henry County when it comes to making changes in their dispatch service at the police department. A performance audit indicated over $300,000 could be saved by combining city dispatch, with that of Henry County. It’s reported, the Henry County Sheriff is not interested in sharing a dispatch center. If the city dispatch would move to the sheriff’s office; the Henry County Sheriff would be director over the entire operation.
Some of the issues to consider if Napoleon Police dispatch is moved away from the city include: Police department has more background on layout of the city for dispatching to emergencies, there would be better surveillance of cameras that are installed around Napoleon at the police department, and the police department is used to handling after-hour calls for utility problems in the city. No action or recommendations were made from the dispatch commission following the discussion.
