The Fulton County Commissioners learned a bit about the environment, during their session on Tuesday. Pete Carr from the Fulton Soil and Water Conservation office detailed a plan for creation of a rain garden at the Robert Fulton Building adjacent to the fairgrounds. This project would utilize rainwater coming from the roof of the building and the parking lot, to irrigate a garden behind the facility. It would use plants native to the area, in a bowl-shaped configuration. Commissioners approved the installation of the rain garden with a resolution.
The Fulton County board talked about ways to haul leachate from the former landfill site. The latest option is to install a small pump, to move the liquid runoff from the lagoons, into tanker trucks. More cost proposals are being gathered before a decision is made.
And the Fulton County Commissioners went into executive session to discuss personnel; but no action was taken.
