While troopers have been trying to crackdown on impaired drivers on the road; another agency is working to keep waterways safer. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources reports they participated in a nation-wide effort to remove impaired boaters from lakes and rivers. 456 vessels were stopped around the state over the past weekend, with 10 arrests for boating under the influence. The same blood-alcohol content that affects drivers on the road, also impacts persons behind the wheel of a boat.
The weekend boating sting also included 9 drug-related violations, 121 citations, and another 423 safety warnings.
