A gift of 1.3 million dollars is nice. But when you have to contribute over a half-million dollars to get it; well that might change your tune. And that’s what happened to Napoleon City Council this week, when considering a grant for a sidewalk to run along North Scott Street, and under the U.S. 24 overpass. The total project cost for a sidewalk that runs from the Walmart Plaza, all the way to Becklee Drive, would cost over 1.875 million dollars. Napoleon Council felt the local share of over $570,000 was not worth it for this project.
Napoleon Council also reviewed a license agreement for the new Brick N Brew Pub in downtown, as they sought approval to serve food and drinks on the sidewalk in front of the establishment.
