The final resolution has been approved unanimously by the Napoleon Area School Board of Education during a special meeting this (wed.) morning, which will send a request for an operating levy to the November ballot. With the Napoleon district still facing a deficit situation in their operating budget, the board has approved placing a 2.9 mill levy before voters, over a five year period. In May of this year, Napoleon voters turned down an income tax for operating expenses. And last November, the district defeated a 3.9 mill operating levy for Napoleon schools. In other action; the Napoleon school board hired six new teachers for the upcoming school year during the meeting. Laura Miller will teach 7th grade language arts, Megan Badenhop is the new social studies teacher at the high school, Kelly Cooper was hired as a business and computer teacher at the high school along with a supplemental contract for NC-TV. The new teachers include Tyler Swary for 6th grade social studies, Megan Flanagan was hired for the title-1 reading position in the elementary, and Lainee Meyer was approved as a kindergarten teacher.
