A new member was added to the Napoleon City Council body, following a recommendation from the Henry County Republican Central Committee. The Republican group met earlier in the evening; and after interviewing Heather Wilson, Andy Small, and Jon Tassler; Tassler was appointed for the council seat. That sent the matter to Napoleon Council for a vote; and they confirmed Jon Tassler for the seat previously held by Jim Hershberger, who passed away last month. Tassler would fill this seat through the end of December; but would still have to run in the November election to hold that seat for the next four years.
Later in the meeting, Napoleon Council reviewed options with the issue of switching police dispatch service to the Henry County Sheriff’s office. And after various options were discussed, Napoleon Council came to the consensus that the best way to resolve this issue was to put it before voters. So it looks like a resolution will be created, to place the question of dispatch service before voters sometime in 2014.
