Despite the turn of the season to autumn, there are still plenty of big events at historic Sauder Village near Archbold. The popular tradition of ‘apple-butter making’ is back this week, with activities scheduled from Wednesday through Saturday, September 28th. Besides apple butter, fruit will also be pressed into cider at the historic farm. An old-fashioned apple pie baking contest will also headline the Saturday schedule.
Saturday, September 28th is also Museum Day, sponsored by the Smithsonian Magazine. Free admission will be offered that day, if you download a ticket from the website Smithsonian.com/museumday
Sauder Village remains open through October to offer experiences from the Northwest Ohio pioneer days. The village has more than 450 employees; along with another 600 volunteers. It is Ohio’s largest living history destination, with nearly 50,000 artifacts.
