Schools across America are listening; and they’re hearing about reports of bullying going on among our youth. The cause of the problem is unclear; but the results can be physical and emotional injuries.
The Napoleon school district is currently dealing with an incident in which a belt was allegedly used to beat another student. That matter has been turned over to police, who are recommending assault charges be filed with juvenile court.
But not all bullying incidents rise to the legal level of assault. Police Chief Bob Weitzel stated the number of assault cases in the Napoleon schools is not much different this year, than in previous years. So far, four cases have been reported since January. He stated his officers investigate assaults; while schools investigate bullying.
