During their monthly board meeting, the Henry County South Joint Ambulance District approved a resolution for a purchase agreement to buy land in Hamler for a stand-alone EMS facility. The parcel is just over 2.1 acres, and located on the northeast side of Hamler along state route 18. The joint ambulance district has been renting space in Hamler since their inception several years ago. The district has money set aside for construction of a new building, and may borrow the rest. They hope to bid the project early in 2014.
Another resolution was passed by the board to offer agreements to area fire departments that provide emergency medical responder services. The contract would allow the district to re-stock disposable supplies and oxygen, and provide a 200-dollar annual stipend to assist those departments obtain and retain a drug license.
The Henry County South Joint Ambulance District also made 40 emergency runs during the month of September.
